Joannes Van Ranst was een landbouwer, hij huwde op 8 feb 1843 in Bornem met Cornelia van de Weertse familie Ysewijn. Cornelia Ysewijn (°4 aug 1817, Weert) was ook een landbouwster.
Het gezin kreeg dertien kinderen. Joannes overleed op 10 mei 1877. Cornelia werkte toen in een café als tapster. Cornelia overleed aan beroerte op 20 apr 1889 in Bornem.


Dochter Maria Rosalia werkte als landbouwster en  huwde met schipper Juliaan Vermeiren. Het koppel kreeg kinderen over heel vlaanderen waaronder Mol é;n Antwerpen.

Dochter Nathalia en haar Broer Benedictus woonde in 1902 naast elkaar
