Joannes Franciscus Van Ranst werd geborenin 1848. Hij ging door het leven als Frans Van Ranst. Hij was net zoals zijn ouders landbouwer van beroep. In 1878 is de spinster Barbara Van Gucht zwanger van hem. Ze besluiten te trouwen in mei van dat jaar. Enkele maanden komt hun zoon, Corneel op de wereld. Moeder Barbara had de bijnaam Baries Van Gucht.


 


Het koppel trok in bij de ouders van Barbara, Ludovicus Van Gucht en Vincentia Vergauwen. Samen met haar ouderlijke gezin, wonen in de Galgenbergstraat op den Boskant in Bornem. Frans overlijdt in 1899 op 50-jarige leeftijd. Barbara is op dat moment dagloonster.


 


Op 25 augustus 1901 gebeurde er een ernstig ongeval op de spoorweg Antwerpen-Dendermonde.  Aan de overweg bij de Zeuthoeve in Puurs stond een bareel. Die slagboom was continue gesloten als er geen baanwachter aanwezig was. Toch kropen  twee meisjes van den Boskant onder de slagboom om over te steken nadat ze de trein van Antwerpen hadden laten passeren. Eén van hen was Joanna Van Ranst, de dochter van Frans en Barbara. Ze had de trein naar Dendermonde niet zien aankomen. Ze werd geraakt door de trein. Joanna had een kwetsuur aan het oog en werd verzorgd door dokter Janssens bij Sleebus-Kegels. Ze kwam er met een schrik van af.

Valentina Sidonie vertrok naar naar Brederodestraat 92 tot 6 mei 1907, Nadien op 24 feb 1909 naar de Van Schoonbekestraat 69 te Antwerpen.



 



Wannes pijp trok naar de Boskant 89, Joanna Leontina naar Boskant 84.
