Notes about Adrianus "Arie" Bruin

Bij zijn trouwen was Arie Bruin, landman, wonende te Zijpe, oud 21 jaar. Zijn vader had op een openbare veiling voor fl.16.000,= de boerderij De Surinaamse Vriend gekocht met 31 bunder land. De boerderij was gelegen aan de westzijde van de Grote Sloot, ten noorden van Schagerbrug. Door boedelscheiding in 1879 erven Arie Bruin en Aaltje de Wit deze boerderij en gaan er ook wonen. Arie Bruin wilde echter wat anders en werd herbergier in café De Koepel gelegen hoek Grote Sloot en Schagerweg te Schagerbrug. Een grote brand in het voorjaar van 1902 doet de familie verhuizen naar een melkzaak aan de Schoterweg in Haarlem. Weer later vertrekt het gezin naar Den Haag waar Arie Bruin weer kastelijn is.
