Notes about Regina (Reine) Hellwig

Kort na de geboorte van Regina volgde ze met haar ouders de marsroute van het vierde Zwitserse Regiment waarin haar vader diende.

Toen het Regiment in 1800 in Breda kwartier maakte kwam Donat
Christian te overlijden.

Moeder en kinderen trokken, zoals gezegd, terug naar Maastricht waar ze zich aan de Grachtstraat vestigden.

In 1814 kwam de het gezin in opspraak, toen Regin
a Hellwig op 9 januari van een dochter Marie Charlotte beviel, waarvan de vader onbekend was. Het kind van de "zonde" leefde echter niet lang want op 9 september van datzelfde jaar overleed
Marie Charlotte in het grootmoederlijk huis aan de Grachtstraat

14 Jaar later herhaalde het noodlot zich voor Regina Hellwig. Op 19 september 1828 beviel ze van een zoon, Joannes, en wederom was
de vader onbekend.

Met dank aan deze "voormoeder" , want door gebrek aan een vader nam Joannes de naam Hellwig over.

Op 18 november 1833 kwam Regina te overlijden. Joannes vertr
ok naar Margraten, waar hij waarschijnlijk door een boerenfamilie werd opgevoed. Er is geen aanwijzing wie zijn pleeggezin zou kunnen zijn geweest.
