    Memorial services for Allan Bernard Kleinpaste of Albert Lea, MN, previously of Hollandale, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Hollandale Reformed Church in Hollandale, MN. Pastor Neil Ohm will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery on June 14th, 2014.
    Allan passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea. He was 95 years of age.
    Allan was born February 6, 1919 in Jasper County, Iowa to Peter and Kate (Van Genderen) Kleinpaste.
    Allan lived most of his early life in Hollandale. He entered the Army in January of 1942 and fought on the western front in France, Belgium and Germany. He married Barbara Jean Hanson on July 3, 1942. Allan and Barbara Jean raised their family in Albert Lea and Hollandale. He owned and operated the International Harvester Store in Albert Lea until 1959 and within a year bought and operated the Hollandale Hardware Store until his retirement. He was always active in church, first the First Baptist Church of Albert Lea and later the church he was raised in, The Reformed Church in Hollandale. Allan served on the city council and later became mayor of Hollandale. He enjoyed life by singing, playing cribbage, whistling, mowing the lawn and joking around with friends and family. He was deeply loved by his family.
    Allan was preceded in death by his daughter Sally Ann, Parents: Peter and Kate, Brothers: Harold, Peter Jr., and Sister: Grace Atkins.
    He is survived by his wife Barbara Jean Hanson Kleinpaste of Albert Lea, MN, Daughter: Susan (David) Zuelke, Sons: Steven Kleinpaste (Chris James) and Timothy (Doreen) Kleinpaste. Grandchildren: Erin (Steven) Geske, Eric Zuelke, Drew (Nora) Kleinpaste, Chet Kleinpaste, Nathan Kleinpaste, Madeline (Shalene) Kleinpaste, Kaylen (Jeff) Jackson and Maggie James. Great grandchildren: Tyler, Clarissa, Lily Geske. Sister-in-law Geraldine Hanson.
    Memorials can be directed to the Hollandale Reformed Church in Hollandale, MN.
