      Bij het afstooten van wagens aan het station Meppel, is hedenmorgen een werkman, in dienst van den scheepmaker De Goede te Zwartsluis, overreden en gedood.

      Meppel, 5 Feb. Gistermiddag te circa 12 uur had hier een diep treurig ongeluk plaats.
      De 43jarige Jacob Tuin, in dienst bij de scheepstimmerman H. de Goede te Zwartsluis, zou hier eene waggon plaatijzer lossen.
      Hij begaf zich van de losplaats, waar de waggon stond, naar het goederenbureau, betaalde daar de vracht en keerde over de lijn naar de waggon terug. Juist was men bezig met het rangeren. Of het nu komt door den storm die den middag woedde, weet men niet, maar 't schijnt dat T. twee achter hem aan rollende waggons niet gehoord heeft, althans voor men hem waarschuwen kon, was de ongelukkige reeds door den wielen gegrepen. De waggons gingen over hem heen en sneden hem letterlijk in tweeën. Eenige oogenblikken later blies hij den laatsten adem uit.
      De ongelukkige was weduwnaar en laat een 14jarig dochtertje achter.
      Het lijk is gisteren naar Zwartsluis vervoerd.
