    Zwartsluis, 23 September. Toen gistermiddag omstreeks half zeven de arbeiders P. Boers, J. Tuin en J. Dekker zich in een punter op het Meppelerdiep bevonden, passeerde hen bij Zegelenberg de sleepboot Eben Haezer, op weg naar Zwartsluis, met op sleeptouw de punter van 's rijkswaterstaat. Daar zij ook mee wilden varen grepen zij alle drie gelijktijdig de boot vast, waardoor de punter onder water schoot en zij er buiten kwamen. Direct grepen de lantaarnopsteker K. v.d Stouwe en de sluiswachter H. Ottink, die zich in 's rijks punter bevonden, toe en mochten het geluk smaken hen behouden in de punter te trekken.
    Een paar schoenen en een paar pantoffels verdwenen echter in de diepte.
