    Zwartsluis, 11 Maart. Gistermiddag geraakte het 5-jarig zoontje van den smid W. van Veen aan de Nieuwersluis in het Meppelerdiep. Toen het kind reeds in zinkenden toestand verkeerde, werd het opgemerkt door een vrouw van een in de nabijheid liggenden schipper. Deze begon direct om hulp te roepen, waarop de visscher C. Moorman, die toevallig passeerde kwam toesnellen en na zich te water hebben begeven er in mocht slagen het kind te grijpen en van een wisse dood te redden.
