      Slechts één pachter, John Langton, lijkt een buitenstaander te zijn geweest. Hij was naast en belangrijke pachter met name een Engelse of Schotse sergeant. Hij was enigszins geïntegreerd in de groep pachters want Evert Ensynck stond een keer borg voor hem, terwijl hij zichzelf een aantal keer borg stelde voor Evert Ensynck en Wessel Alards. Verder fungeerden twee mannen die zelf nooit accijnzen pachtten, Derick Haeck en Hendrik Wolters, als borgstellers voor Langton. Hij was dan ook slechts in beperkte mate een buitenstaander.
      Hij was de op één na grootste pachter in Doesburg. Hij had 16 contracten met een totale waarde van 10.135 gulden, gemiddeld 1.689 per contract
      Langton verwierf een eerste pachtcontract in het voorjaar van 1628.

      Verklaring van Gerrit Ringelman, dat hij zijn recht op het gestoelte naast de linkerdeur naar het koor aan sergeant Jon Langton heeft verkocht.

      In 1644 en 1645 voert Thomas Langton uit 's-Gravenhage, met zoon Robbert als gemachtigde, een rechtszaak tegen Johan van Leeuwen, stadtholder van het Richterambt Doesburg ende momber van de Landschap.
      Deze heeft de erfenis van Johan Langton in beheer, die zonder familie in 1644 is overleden.
      Thomas claimt de erfenis, zeggende dat zij volle neven zijn.
      Johan zou getuige geweest zijn bij de doop van Thomas' zoon Simon.
