    Onderzoek heeft duidelijk gemaakt, dat 1e echtgenote Johanna Susanna Jansen is overleden dd. 22-01-1859. Daardoor kan Anna Louisa geen dochter zijn van JS Jansen en zo een dochter is uit de voorechtelijke relatie van Bernardus en Srie. Bernardus huwde dan uiteindelijk toch in 1874 met Srie en zij erkenden daarbij 3 kinderen (Anna, Wilhelmina en Henry). Relaties als deze kwamen in Indië regelmatig voor, waarbij dan later vaak toch tot huwelijksregistratie werd overgegaan en werden eerder verwekte kinderen uit die relatie erkend. De naam '(van) Stenus' is de fonetische schrijfwijze van in oorsprong '(van) Steenis of (van) Stenis, als blijkt uit de uitgewerkte stamlijnen. Enkele Indische families van-Stenus wonen nu in Nederland en bevinden zich o.a. in Leiden, Bodegraven, Almere.
