NOTE: Constantius I Chlorus, Flavius Valerius (Illyrië? ca. 250 - Eburacum306),
2 CONC Romeins keizer, was van lage afkomst, maar maakte carrière inkeizerlijke dienst. Uit zijn verbintenis met de herbergiersdochter Helenawerd
2 CONC ca. 280 Constantijn (de Grote) geboren. Hij huwde ca. 289 Theodora,stiefdochter van Maximianus (Diocletianus' medekeizer in het westen).Zijn
2 CONC schoonvader adopteerde hem in 293 en stelde hem aan als caesar(onderkeizer) van Gallië (Frankrijk) en Britannia (dat hij in 296 op
2 CONC deusurpator Allectus veroverde). Hoewel hij geen christen was,
2 CONC saboteerdehij doorgaans de vervolgingsedicten van keizer Diocletianus. Bij
2 CONC detroonsafstand van deze en Maximianus (305) werd Constantius (samen metGalerius in het oosten) augustus (opperkeizer) van het
2 CONC westelijkrijksdeel.
