koning van Haithabu (Hederby, Sleeswijk), leenheer in Friesland. zie ES NF II.109. Vermoedelijk een neef van Rollo, een aanvoerder van de Noormannen in Friesland. Bleek echter onbetrouwbaar en werd te Herispech (Betuwe) in opdracht van keizer Lotharius vermoord. Vanwege zijn betrokkenheid bij deze moord werd Gerulf van Westfriesland beleent met gebieden, die eerst aan Godfried en zijn familie hebben toebehoort en waaruit later het graafschap Holland is ontstaan.
