Kruisvader in 1147. De tweede Kruistocht vond plaats van 1147-1149. Hoewel Lodewijk VII van Frankrijk hieraan deelnam, was deze kruistocht weinig succesvol. Na een vruchteloze belegering van Damascus in 1148 besloten de kruisvaders toch maar om huiswaarts te keren. Velen keerden berooid terug. Gosewinus van Randerode moest uit geldgebrek vanwege zijn deelname zijn voorvaderlijk goed te Dorweiler overdragen aan de Mariakerk in Keulen.
