{geni:occupation} Het gezin van Laureyns leefde in 1423 aan het Creyven (Kraaiven) in de Hasselt te Tilburg.
{geni:about_me} Laureyns Mutsaerts (omstr. 1370-) is de oudst bekende voorvader van het Mutsaerts geslacht. Het is niet ondenkbeeldig dat deze Laureyns een nazaat is uit de genealogie van Meeus Mutsart (geboren 1270). Het meest voor de hand ligt als vader Jan Mutsart (geboren 1340), grootvader Willem Mutsart en grootmoeder Magriet. Bewezen is dit echter nog niet. Het gezin van Laureyns leefde in 1423 aan het Creyven (Kraaiven) in de Hasselt te Tilburg. Hij was getrouwd met Hyllegont Snijders, dochter van Hendric 'de dreyer' Snijder. De familienaam Mutsaerts is waarschijnlijk afkomstig van het in onbruik geraakte woord Mutsaard of Mutserd dat takkenbundel betekent. Het werd in het bijzonder gebruikt als aanduiding van voor het hout waarmee het vuur van de brandstapel werd aangestoken. Het gezegde ´Het riekt naar Mutsaard´ betekende vaak dat men iemand verdacht werd van ketterij.

Notitie bij het huwelijk van Laureijs en Hillegond: ORA Oisterwijk (inv.nr.144, microfiche 2-D11, f.44v-4, aktenr. 271) Op 28-10-1422 beloofde Hijllegont Henric Snijders aan haar nakinderen Jan en Willem, verwekt door Laureijs Mutsaerts, 300 gouden franse kronen, direct na haar overlijden te betalen. Laurentius Mutsaert zal deze brief bewaren. ORA Oisterwijk (inv.nr.144, microfiche 1-D11, f.20-1, aktenr. 117) Op 28-03-1422 schonken Hijllegont Henric Snijders en haar man Laureijs Mutsaert aan hun zonen Jan en Willem (van de nabedde) alle goederen die Hillegonde toebehoren, in Westilburg.
