[doddimp.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 14, Ed. 1, Tree #0434, Date of Import: Apr 15, 2001] Richard Buckner and Elizabeth Cooke Richard Buckner was born about 1662, probably in Glouchester County, Virginia, and was the oldest son of John Buckner and Elizabeth Ferrers. Elizabeth Cooke was probably born about 1665 in Virginia. Her parents are presently unknown. The first record of Richard Buckner is a Rappahannock County land grant of 500 acres made to him on September 22, 1682. If he was born in 1662 he would have been 20 years old at this time. Essex County was formed from Rappahannock County in 1692. Records show that Richard Buckner had acquired a total of at least 1479 acres in Essex County by August of 1715. He served as County Clerk of Essex County in at least the years of 1703 and 1712. He was also Clerk of the House of Burgesses in 1714. His will was proved in Caroline County, Virginia, on March 4, 1733. His children as indicated by that will were: Richard, Philip, John, William, and Elizabeth. (Note: Caroline County was formed from parts of Essex, King & Queen, and King William Counties in 1727)
