Cecil G. Mitchell Letter dated 23 Feb 1988, Rt 1 Box 44A Kentwood, LA 70444
"When my mother died in 1906, my dad placed us (four boys) in an orphanage. Some months later he rescued us from that "home" and placed us with aunts and uncles. My mother's family, also named Mitchell took John and Joy. Dad placed Paul and me with his uncle John G. Mitchell, Edward C. Mitchell's brother. At that time Uncle John was married to Carry Hegeman, his second wife. Uncle John had married when he was quite young and had one daughter, Anna, with that wife. Paule who was always restless, left aunt Carry and Uncle John's home when he was thirteen. I left their home when I reached seventeen and lost all contact with those dear old people and the Mitchell family. My dad, when I was living with Uncle John and Aunt Carry would visit me every few months. We lived on a farm 15 miles N.E. of St. Joe. On one of my Dad's trips, he took me with him to St. Joe to visit his sister, or half sister. I remember calling her "Aunt Mary". She was married to a Hogan. I played on a high bluff overlooking south St. Joe with a youngster two or three years older than me, probably your father, Bud? That was in 1915."
