Gebeurtenis (Children) in het jaar 1900: (Seven children; seven living).
Miron S. CORBIN (Philip, Penuel, Clement, Clement, James, Clement) He was born Jan 6, 1850, in Wiota Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin and died Aug 16, 1932 at Bradley, South Dakota. He married Kathrine Elizabeth Blanchard Mar 17, 1885 in Blanchardville, Wisconsin. She was born Nov 10, 1854 in Garrison Grove, Iowa County, Wisconsin to Alvin and Mary Eliza (Skinner) Blanchard. In 1856 her parents moved to Blanchardville, Wisconsin, located in adjacent Lafayette County. Alvin Blanchard was a businessman and entrepreneur who is credited with founding Blanchardville, Wisconsin. He owned several business enterprises. Katherine resided in Blanchardville until her marriage to Miron. She died Jun 4, 1920 in Lily, South Dakota at age 65.
Upon the death of Miron CORBIN, the following biography, attributed to the "Lily Correspondent," but most likely written by a family member, was published in a local newspaper:
Miron CORBIN was born Jan 6, 1850, in Wiota Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin and died August 16, 1932 at Bradley, S. D. at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 10 days."
Mr. CORBIN was very much a self-made man. Losing his mother at the age of 4 years he made his home with his crippled grandmother only to lose her in a few years and he was then left to make his own way."
In his early years Miron came west to Browns Valley, Minn. After a few years there he came to South Dakota and filed on a homestead in what was then Clark County in 1883.
He returned to Wisconsin to be married to Katherine Elizabeth Blanchard on March 17, 1885. He then came on ahead to put up the shanty and get things in order for his bride, only to break his leg unloading the car at Henry, the nearest station. He sent for his wife at once and thus handicapped they started the task of making a home on the prairie. They suffered all the pioneers hardships of Indian scares, drought, prairie fires, and blizzards in which part of their stock froze to death. Surely nothing could have brought them through such times but a great and abiding trust and faith in their Maker.
To this union seven children were born Phillip Alvin, Clarence Miron, Charles A., Mrs. Vivian Brice and Mrs. Lulu Nash, all of Lily vicinity. Mrs. Janette Martin of Boise, Idaho, and Alice Mabel who passed away at the age of 18 years. Besides the children he leaves 22 grand-children, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and nieces and nephews to morn his passing.
Dad CORBIN, as he was known to all, made his home on the homestead until 1912, when he moved to Lily where his wife died on June 4, 1920.
The funeral was held at 2 Oclock on Thursday, Aug 18, at his home in Lily, before a large gathering of old-time friends and neighbors who will cherish many memories of Miron CORBIN.

CORBIN, Francis 'Fritz' S.,"History and Genealogy of The Descendant Families of Miron and Kathrine CORBIN of Lily, South Dakota,"1997
"In the late 1970s or early 80s Lulu CORBIN Nash wrote an article for the Day County, South Dakota History Book concerning the CORBIN family. The following is part of her article--taken from her original hand-written draft.
Miron was born in 1850 near Argyle, Wisconsin. His mother, Nancy Arnold CORBIN, died when he was a small boy and he lived with his grandparents. One of his aunts, Eunice CORBIN Todd, filed on a claim in Clark County, Dakota Territory. This land is now a part of the Carson farm south of Bradley.
Miron filed on the NW¼ of Section 35 in York Township, Day County in 1884. He returned to Wisconsin in 1885 and married Kathrine Blanchard of Blanchardville. Her father and his brother came from New York state. Her mother, Minnie Skinner, came from Ohio. Miron came back by train bringing an immigrant car with stock and household goods. While unloading the car he fell breaking his leg. In order to get around, he rode one of the horses. He hauled the supplies to the Todd shanty, it being about half way to his claim. They built a small frame house, a sod barn, a sod hen house and dug a shallow well; but, he could never get enough water for his stock. It was while he had the stock at a slough watering them that the blizzard of 1888 caught him. He was able to get to the house but he lost some of the stock. He later found them suffocated between the house and hen house.
There were 3 children born here: Phillip Alvin in 1886, Clarence Myron in 1887, and Mary Janette in 1888. Kathrine had no doctor at these births, but Ed Esget, a neighbor, having had some medical training, attended her; of course, a neighbor lady was there too. In 1890, she went back to Wisconsin for the birth of Alice Mabel, who died at 18 years of age.
Because of the shortage of water, they moved their house to their adjoining tree claim (SW¼ of Section 35). There they enlarged the house and built a shed barn and other farm buildings. He also dug a well for stock and one for household use. There were 3 children born here: Vivian Irene in 1893, Lulu Elizabeth in 1896, and Charles Adams in 1898. A doctor attended her at these births. The family lived here until 1912 when they moved into a house in Lily. At this time Alvin married Verda Fisk and lived on the farm. Mr. & Mrs. CORBIN lived in Lily until their deaths, Kathrine in 1920 and Miron in 1932."
