Rev. Harvey M. Lawson, Ph.B., B.D., "History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Clement Corbin of Muddy River (Brookline) Mass. and Woodstock, Conn.", 1905, p. 121 #160 JOSEPHINE CORBIN (Daniel Hill CORBIN, Oliver, Clement, Clement, James, Clement), "was educated in the public and normal schools of Illinois, taught in the state for several years, and in 1883 went as a missionary to Chili, S. America, where she labored, and in Argentina and Uruguay for one year, when she came home for treatment for dull hearing, and had to give up returning on account of the effects of the climate. in 1891 she entered the Methodist Deaconess' Home in Philadelphia, and in 1893 was ordained a deaconess. She remained in the Home in Philadelphia for eight years, and then had charge of the Deaconess' Home at Jersey City for a year, and of the immigrant Girls' Home at No. 9 State St., New York, for three years. She is now traveling over the USA in the interests of the Methodist Woman's Home Missionary Society."This is my twentieth year in missionary work and I love it with all my heart."
