The funeral of the late Mrs. D.L. CORBIN, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.R. Brothers, in Olean Wednesday, April 1st, after an illness of a complication of diseases, took place at 2:30 Friday afternoon of last week. Rev. F.S. Squyer of the First Baptist church officiating. The house was filled with those who came to pay the last tribute to a loved friend. Burial in the family lot at Mt. Hope.
Mrs. CORBIN had been confined to the house for over a year. Last May she was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.R. Brothers, in Olean, since which time she has been confined to her room. Everything that loving hearts could prompt and willing hands do, was done for her comfort and care.
Mrs. CORBIN was ever sweet and patient, and although so long compelled to stay in her room, showed no signs of complaining or discontent, always greeting visitors with a cheery word, having thoughts for their troubles instead of her own to the last.
She was a communicant of the First Baptist church of Friendship and made every day application of her Christianity, practicing the Golden Rule in her home life and in her relations with others.
Mrs. CORBIN was a devoted wife, an unselfish, loving mother, a loyal friend and a kind neighbor, always putting the interests of others before her own. Besides a host of friends, she leaves to mourn her loss her husband, D.L. CORBIN of this place, two daughters, Mrs. F.R. Brothers of Olean and Mrs. F.A. Robertson of Bradford, and one half sister, Mrs. Lee Winship of Annin Creek.
Jane Wells CORBIN was born at Little Genesee in 1839 and was married by Rev. Brown to D.L. CORBIN Feb. 24, 1859, coming to Friendship in 1869. Of this union there were four children, Katie, who died in Washington during the civil war, Nettie, who lived to be fourteen years of age, Dinnie and Helen. Mrs. CORBIN has resided in Friendship most of her married life. She was the last member of her own family, with the exception of one half sister.
The high esteem in which Mrs. CORBIN was held was manifest in the great number of floral tributes. Rarely has such a collection of beautiful flowers been seen in Friendship.
