June 13, 1820, in Henrietta, Monroe County, New York. He commenced his education in a log schoolhouse and afterwards attended the Monroe High School at Henrietta. At the age of 21 he began to teach, and taught school during the winter season and worked on his father's farm in the summer. In 1847, he settled with his parents near Mt. Clemens, Mich. In 1848 his parents died and the next year he joined his brother, Rev. William Beston Corbyn, in a school subsequently known as St. Paul's College at Palmyra, Mo. Here he studied and assisted in teaching for eight years. On Dec 9, 1855, he was admitted to deacon's orders by Bishop Hawks in Christ's Church, St. Louis. The following autumn the bishop sent him to take charge of the parish at Independence and to look after Kansas City, Mo. He organized the first parish of the Episcopal Church in Kansas City soon after going there. He remained there until the spring of 1861, when he was called to assist in a parish and school for boys in Hambden, Connecticut. In January, 1864, he returned to Missouri to become a teacher in Mr. Wm. H. Glasgow's family at St. Louis and to officiate on Sundays in a small chapel of Christ's Church. After ten or twelve years' residence in Mr. Glasgow's family he resigned his charge and in April, 1875, he took charge of St. Mark's Parish, Anamosa, Iowa. He was admitted to priest's orders in Christ's Church Chapel, St. Louis, December, 1864, by Bishop Hawks. He never married. He d. May 1, 1900, at Anamosa, Iowa."
