Bio: The Advance-Progress, September 3, 1997 Mr. Gaston B. Williamson, Jr., age 79, of a Soperton address/ died Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Oak Park, a retired mechanic with the State Highway Dept., a Mason of the Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330, and a member of Pendleton Springs Baptist Church near Oak Park. Mr. Williamson was a U.S. Marine veteran. Survivors include his wife, Zelma CORBIN Williamson, Soperton, Ga.; one daughter, Olivia W. Saffold, of a Soperton address; two sons, Jonathan Williamson, Soperton and Michael Williamson, Lake George, Ga.; two sisters, Eleanor Phillips and Patsy Williamson, Lyons; three brothers, Aubrey Williamson, Tarrytown, Bennie Williamson, Lyons, and Bobby Williamson, Baker, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 28, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with the Rev. Walter Jarriel and Rev. Earl Warnock officiating. Interment followed in the Solomon Williamson Cemetery near Oak Park. Pallbearers were Chris Williamson, Greg Williamson, Richard Williamson, Jim Williamson, Allen Morris, Ashley CORBIN, Andy CORBIN, David Williamson and Drayton Oliver. Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements._____________________________ SOPERTON--Final rites for Gaston B. A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Williamson was a retired mechanic with Georgia Highway Department. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #330 in Vidalia and of Pendleton Springs Baptist Church, Oak Park. Mr. Williamson was a U.S. Marine veteran. He was also a member of the McLeod-Moring Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zelma CORBIN Williamson of Soperton; a daughter, Olivia W. Saffold of Soperton; two sons, Jonathan Williamson of Soperton and Michael Williamson of Lake George; two sisters, Eleanor Phillips and Patsy Williamson, both of Lyons; three brothers, Aubrey Williamson of Tarrytown, Bennie Williamson of Lyons and Bobby Williamson of Baker, La.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Peebles, Curry, Durden Mortuary of Swainsboro had charge of arrangements.
