July 6, 1997, Received E-mail from Wesley Reinbold, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan as follows:
Dear Miss Wright,
This is Wesley Reinbold from Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, with some answers for you. How am I related to Philip? My grandfather Theodore Reinbold was Philip's cousin and I knew him in his later years, but my father tells stories of doing business with him years ago. Philip Reinbold had 11 brothers and sisters.
1. Johann George, born May 1, 1866
2. Christiana Barbara Margaretha, born March 29, 1868
3. Christiana, born February 20, 1870
4. Johann Ernst, born December 11, 1872
5. Emile (or) Amelia, born July 6, 1875
6. Anna Katharina Mathilda, born June 1, 1877 - died as a child
7. Christian George Richard, born December 29, 1878, died as a child
8. Christian George Philip, born October 2, 1880
9. Ida, born May 31, 1882 (don't know her other names)
10. Renata, born October 28, 1886 (same here)
11. Arthur, born October 17, 1889 (him too)
12. Alexander, died as a child (don't know his birth order or other names)
These children's father was Johann Ernst Reinbold. Born in Beiersdorf Bayem, on October 26, 1839. Left German with his parents: George Ludwig (born October 26, 1801) and mother Katherina nee Hemmeter (born March 30, 1810) on board the ship Creole on April 18, 1847, and arrived in New York on June 12, 1847.
Ludwig and his wife and three children and 21 other families settled the village of Frankentrost, Saginaw County, Michigan.
These children's mother was Anna Katherina nee Munker. Born in Beiersdorf, Bayerm on October 22, 1845. Her father's name was Konrad Munker, born March 12, 1819. He also was one of the settlers of Frankentrost and came over on the same ship.
The nephew, Harold, that you mentioned, is one of Arthur's sons, and took care of Philip in his later years, and settled his estate. This is what I recall, I was only 15 years old at the time of Philip's death.
Philip and Ella are fondly remembered by older people in Frankentrost. Many people dealt with him in business, as he had a hardware store, but he also sold some farm machinery, owned and operated a cider mill, and also had a knack for repairing difficult things, I'm told. In later years, his store became a place for younger generation to "hang out". He also had quite a sense of humor. I remember him coming to our church kinderfest (children's picnic) with a bow tie that would light up, and it said "Hi toots". One Memorial Day service in the cemetery, after the firing squad fired their 21 gun salute, a duck call could be heard in the close vicinity. One of Philip's jokes. This is some of what I recall of him, I'm sure older folks could could up with more. I hope this helps you in your search for family information. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you, and please let me know if you received this message.
Your friend in Michigan,
Wesley Reinbold
