"ELISHA CORBIN (James, Clement), "b. June 30, 1713; m. Sally Healy, dau. of Joshua Healy of Dudley, Oct 6, 1739. He lived at Dudley, where he held the following offices: Hog-reeve, 1747; constable for east side, 1749-1750; highway surveyor, 1753, 1764; fence-viewer, 1756, 1758, 1765; committee to seat meeting-house, "and the method to go by is age and estates," 1756; school committee, 1763, 1787; warden, 1765. In 1760 the town voted to allow him f9 10s."for building a good stone pound, sd pound to be 3 foot and a half thick at bottom of said wall and about 18 or 20 inches thick at top and six foot and a half high, with a teer of good flatt stons on the wall above--to be two rod squar with a good gate well hanged, the town finding the irons." June 30, 1774, he was chosen as a member of the town "Committee of Correspondence," to correspond with such committees in other towns to prepare to resist British encroachments. Sep 19, 1774, the town voted to add to its stock 100 lbs. of powder, 400 lbs. of lead, and 10 dozen flints. Elisha CORBIN was on a committee for choosing militia officers. In 1780 he was on a committee to hire fourteen men for the Continental Army. He d. Aug 4, 1797, ae. 84."
