William served in the Civil War. His 1st wife Syrilda divorced him because he went to fight in the Civil War. He was 26 when he went to war as a Private in Company "G" Of Ohio. He was mustered in 13 Aug 1865 and mustered out 1Jul 1865. He marched to the Sea with Gerneral Sherman. He was a cousin and great friend of President of America--Rutherford B. Hayes.
William Martin Dieffenbaugh, Served in Civil War, 113th Regiment, Ohio
Volunteer Infantry, Private, Co. C. At age 26, he entered 13 Aug. 1862, for
three years, Mustered out with Co. C. 6 July 1865, he marched with General
Sherman to the Sea. Williams first wife, Syrilda Nunn, #1591, divorced him
because he enlisted in the Civil War. Other records show that he died and was
buried in Arlington, Ok.
William moved to Lincoln County, Oklahoma where he established a home near Arlington. William moved into te town of Arlington with his wife Syrilda after their son, James Martin Deffenbaugh was grown.
