Millard were called to Dumont Sunday by the death of Mrs. Millard's aunt, Mrs. Theodore Ahrens, 72, at her home there. Mrs. Ahrens, who was an aunt of Mrs. Millard, formerly lived north of Independence and had many friends among the older residents here. Her maiden name was Rebecca Knoll. She is survived by her husband and seven children. Oldtime friends here regret to learn of her death."
20 Dec 1930, Saturday, Waterloo Courier: "Ahrens Funeral. The funeral of Mrs. Theodore Ahrens, who died Thursday, will be conducted Monday afternoon. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Evangelical Church of which she had been a member thirty years. The pastor, Rev. H. M. Raeker, will have charge. Interment will be in the Dumont cemetery. Mrs. Ahrens was 72 years old. She was born near Dunkerton, Iowa, moved to Butler County with her parents 52 years ago. She had been an invalid nearly twenty years. Mr. and Mrs. Ahrens passed the 50th anniversary of their marriage on Friday of last week. Surviving are the husband, three sons, six daughters, 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The sons and daughters area Clarence Ahrens, South Dakota; Irvin and Walter Ahrens, Dumont; Mrs. Ida Collins and Mrs. Enola Merritt, Parker, South Dakota; Mrs. Pearl McKinney, Waverly; Mrs. Ethel Brannon, Hampton; Mrs. Minetta Card and Miss Lucile Ahrens, Dumont."
