"In 1894 Alta moved with her father and seven brothers and sisters to Dallas County, following the death of their mother. There she grew to womanhood.
Following their marriage they lived on farms in Dallas, Greene and Polk counties in Iowa. In 1920 they moved to Buffalo Center, coming by tain along with all their household goods, machinery and livestock, to a farm southwest of BuffaloCenter in Kossuth County. In June of 1927 they lost all their possessions in a farm which burned both the house and barn.
In 1928 they moved to a farm four miles east and two miles south of Buffalo Center, ... ... To Thomas and Alta were born nine children: Darlene (deceased) married Lynn Friesenborg (deceased; Harry Adams; ...
Alta passed away on November 25, 1962 at Mason City, Iowa following a long illness. Tom continued to live on the farm at Crystal lake, Iowa for several years and then moved to a mobile home on the farm of his son, Tom, Jr., near BuffaloCenter. He passed away on May 16, 1978 at Forest City. Both are buried in Graceland Cemetery at Buffalo Center beside their son, Benton, who passed away on March 12, 1960 at Litchfield, Minnesota." <>
