Service Held Wednesday for J. Harold Ricklefs
The community was shocked to learn of the unexpected death of J. Harold Ricklefs, 53, a lifelong resident of the Titonka community. Mr. Ricklefs passed away at the North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City on Monday, Dec. 13. Serviceswere held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15 with the Rev. Ted Ager officiating. Music was provided by Anita Schutter, organist, and LeRoy Bruns, soloist. Interment was in the church cemetery. Serving ascasket attendants were Erwin Post, Gary Zwiefel, Floyd Ullman, Francis Culbertson, Fred Hofmann and Edward Stohr. Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Harold Ricklefs was born Mary 19, 1923 at Titonka, the son of Harry and Tressie (Spear) Ricklefs. On Sept. 2, 1946, he was married to Mildred Franzen at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Navy from April 30, 1945 to August 3, 1946. He had been engaged in farming all of his life, retiring in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; one dughter, Mrs. Roger (Karen) Giddings of Woden; three sons, Merle of Woden, and Keith and Mark of Titonka; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ricklefs; one sister, Mrs. Leroy (Betty) Phelps of titonka;and two brothers, Vernon and Melvin both of Titonka. He was preceded in death by an infant sister."
