The son of a Confederate enlisted man who rose to Captain, C.C. or Mr. Charlie or just plain Charlie was primarily a farmer. During some years of hard times, C.C. worked for William Childs at the Childs Restarants as a purchaser. C.C. also had long-time responsibilities for getting some of the necessary work done for Old Purity Cemetery and was an Elde as Purity Presbyterian Chruch of Chester, SC, for some fifty years.
C.C. and Mabel retired to Gainesville, Florida in 1957 or so to be near some of their children and grandchldren, including Charles and Mabel who were living in Gainesville and William, who was a minister at the First Presbyterian Church of Starke, a not-too-distant farm.
