He [William le Latimer] married Elizabeth, elder daughter of John, 1stLORD BOTETOURT, by Maud, sister and heir of Otes FITZTHOMAS, which Maudwas one of the heirs of Beatrice de Beaucliamp, heiress of a third partof the barony of Bedford. On 12 November 1328 Maud, widow of John deBotetourt, had licence to grant to William le Latimer and Elizabeth hiswife in fee tail her manors of Dilwick, Wootton, Cardington, Ronhale(Ravensden) and Bromham, Beds, with 20 knights' fees in these and otherplaces in the county, with remainder to Elizabeth's heirs. On 23 May 1329William le Latimer had a pardon for acquiring, without licence, from thesame Maud, the office of graver and worker of the dies in the Tower ofLondon and city of Canterbury, and he had licence to retain it. On 17December 1330 he and Eilzabeth had a grant of the manor of Iselhampstead,Bucks (now called Latimer), forfeited by the rebellion of Simon deBereford. He died in 1335, before 2 November. He was still unburied on 10December because his widow had nothing wherewith to bury him, so theExchequer was ordered to deliver 500 marks of his goods in the King'shand to her and the other executors. A grant of her marriage had beenmade a fortnight after William's death to William FitzWarin le frère, butshe did not marry hirn. She had assignment of her dower 10 February1335/6. She married, 2ndly, before 20 August 1337, when they werepardoned for marrying without licence, Robert, Lord Ufford, 1st son andheir apparent of Robert (DE UFFORD), EARL OF SUFFOLK. Queen Philippe hadcustody of the two-thirds of the lands of William le Latimer in theKing's hand through the minority of the heir, and these she demised toRobert de Ufford le fitz and Elizabeth his wife for a rent of £300.Robert died v.p. and s.p., before 1369. She, as Elizabeth de Latimer, wascalled upon to provide 6 men-at-arms and 12 archers for the King'sservice in October 1346, and in 1370 she had custody of the lands of JohnBreton, who was an idiot. She died 11 April 1384. Her will as LadyElizabeth Latimer, lady of Iselhampstead, dated at Newnham by Bedford 21March 1383/4, was proved 26 April 1384.
