.Thomas Malcolm Kittrell, 85, of 149 Kittrell Court, Cope, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at his residence after an extended illness.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Scott Alewine officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be Jared Kittrell, Jeremy Kittrell, Joshua Kittrell, Matthew Kittrell, Mike Kittrell and Willie Etheridge.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926, in Orangeburg County, the son of the late Hallie W. Kittrell and the late Lilly Victoria Etheridge Kittrell. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He retired in 1985 from DuPont in Aiken. He was a member of Bamberg Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Thomas Kittrell, and a sister, Mary Kathleen Croft.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Sanders Kittrell of the home; two sons, Roger (Dale) Kittrell of Cope and Terry (Lena) Kittrell of Springfield; four grandchildren Jared, Jeremy, Joshua and Matthew; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Naomi, Eden and Ava; a sister, Grace McAlhany of Branchville; and two brothers, Hallie Kittrell and Jacob Kittrell, both of Cope.
The family will receive friends at the residence and Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
The family would like to thank Linda Phillips, Laurel Baye Healthcare Center and Hospice Care of South Carolina for their loving care and support.
