Randolph -- Edyth C. White, 89, of 10610 Jamestown Road, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at home.
She was the widow of Waith W. White, whom she married Aug. 1, 1941, in a garden wedding in Clear Creek, who died Nov. 1, 1986.
An area resident most of her life, she was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late John A. "Jack" and Blanche Barrett Cannon.
Edyth was a graduate of Ellington High School, and had owned and operated Cannon's Store in Clear Creek for 20 years after her father died.
She was a member of the Ellington Community Church, where she had served as deaconess, was a life member of the Ellington Firemen's Auxiliary, a member of the Randolph Post 181, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Randolph Senior Citizens.
Edyth had taught ceramics for many years and enjoyed weaving on her looms. She was an avid bowler for many years, and enjoyed playing golf. She had volunteered delivering meals for the Echo Site in Randolph.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Parker and her husband, Ronald, with whom she made her home in Randolph; three grandsons: Todd Parker of Randolph, Christopher Parker of Jamestown, Brent Woncki and wife Nicole of Kingston, Tenn.; a great-granddaughter, Destiny Marie Woncki of Kingston; and a cousin, Roland Slingerland and his wife Florence of Williamsport, Pa.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry White in 1942; a daughter, Gayle Woncki on Jan. 9, 1971; and a brother, Gordon Cannon.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Ellington Community Church. The Rev. Daniel W. Cook of the Lakewood Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
