Ellington -- Waith W. White, 66, of Ellington, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday (Nov 1, 1986) in WCA Hospital in Jamestown.
A lifelong area resident, he was born July 5, 1920, in the town of Ellington, the son of Stanley and Helen Waith White. He had worked for 25 years at Borden & Co. in Randolph, in more recent years as foreman, and retired in 1982. He belonged to the company's Quarter Century Club.
He was a World War II army veteran, serving with the 141st Ordnance in the European Theater.
He was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church, where he was a deacon and had been a trustee and board chairman. He was a life member of the Ellington Fire Department, to which he had belonged for more than 50 years. ; He was secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners and was captain of the fire police. He was a member of the Chautauqua County Fire Police Association, the Roger Potwin Post No. 1419 of the American Legion, the Cherry Creek Veterans of Foreign Wards, and the 141st Ordnance Reunion.
Surviving are his wife, Edyth Cannon White, whom he married Aug. 1, 1941, in Clear Creek; a daughter, Penny Parker of Randolph; three grandchildren, Todd and Christopher Parker, both of Randolph; and Brent Woncki of Falconer; three step grandchildren, Anna Woncki and Steven Crone, both of Falconer, and Scott Crone of Kennedy; and a sister, Margaret Knoll of Sinclairville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gayle Woncki on Jan 9, 1971; and a son, Larry White on July 6, 1942.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Ellington Congregational Church with the Rev. Maring Swart, pastor, and the Rev. Frances Hemstreet of the Ellington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Falconer Funeral Home.
