Willard Peter Ragan, 78, life-long
resident of Pelahatchie, died Sunday
afternoon at his home following a long
illness.
He was born November 1, 1874, in
Pelahatchie, the son of Peter and Martha
Ragan. He was married to Alma Williams
on March 3, 1897 at Clarksburg. Mr. Ragan
was a farmer and a member of the
Pelahatchie Methodist church. He was the
oldest living ex-mayor of Pelahatchie,
having served in the post in early years.
Surviving members of his family are his
wife; and eight of ten children, Mrs. J.M.
VanCleave, Jackson, E.F. (Buck) Ragan,
Edwards, A.H. Ragan, Pelahatchie, W.F.
Ragan, Jackson, Mrs. Carl Davis, Miami
Springs, Fla., J.W. Ragan, Pelahatchie,
Mrs. A.O. McMahon, Natchez, Mrs. T.M.
Rodgers, McComb, eighteen grand-
children and four great grandchildren
also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the
Pelahatchie Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock
Monday afternoon. Rev. Inman Moore, Rev.
J.F. Stanford, and Rev. John Morrow will
officiate. Interment will be in the Ragan
family cemetery near Pelahatchie.
Active pallbearers will be E.C. McKay,
J.B. Hurdle, Buck Coats, Otis Mashburn,
Ed Hayes and Rod Murray.
Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Glaze,
Dr. S.K. Johnson, Dr. W.H. Watson, Dr.
Temple Ainsworth, H.H. Fox, Tom Reeves.
Sr., N.R. Battle, R.E. Murray, Bennett Bell,
John Munsterman, T.P. Beckes and A.J.
Goodman.
The remains will rest at the church form
1;30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Wright
and Ferguson is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Willard Peter Ragan, 78, lifelong
resident of Pelahatchie who died Sunday
afternoon at his home following a long illness,
were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday from the
Pelahatchie Methodist church. The Rev.
Inman Moore, Rev. J.F. Stanford, and Rev.
John Morrow officiated.
Interment was made in the Ragan family
cemetery mear Pelahatchie with Wright
and Ferguson in charge.
Active pallbearers: E.C. McKay, J.B. Hurdle,

Mr. Ragan, a native of Pelahatchie, was the
son of Peter and Martha Ragan. He was a
farmer, a member of the Pelahatchie
Methodist church, and the oldest living
ex-mayor of Pelahatchie. He married Alma
Williams on March3, 1897 at Clarksburg.
He is survived by his wife, and eitht of ten
children: Mrs. J.M. Vancleave, Jackson, E.F.
(Buck) Ragan, Edwards, A.H. Ragan, Pelahatchie,
W.F. Ragan, Jackson, Mrs. Carl Davis, Miami
Springs, Fla., J.W. Ragan, pelahatchie, Mrs.
A.O. McMahon, Natchez, Mrs. T.M. Rodgers,
McComb; 18 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
