"I, David D. Johnson of the Town of Ramapo, in said County being duly sworn and examined, do depose and say, that I am a Son of the said deceased: that said deceased departed this life at Ramapo aforesaid, aged 86 yrs. on the Twenty Third day of April 1878 without leaving any last Will and Testament...died possessed of certain personal property in the State of New York, the value whereof does not exceed the sum of Two Thousand Three Hundred Dollars, as I have been informed and believe: that said deceased has left heirs surviving no widow (she Catherine Johnson having died about four years ago) and Benjamin Johnson, Catherine VanHouten, the now wife of Peter Van Houten, Elizabeth Secor, widow of John J. Secor, deceased, your petitioner, George W. Johnson, Buskirk Johnson, 2nd, his only surviving sons and daughters; and Harriet Johnson (Elwell) his granddaughter the only child of his deceased son, Buskirk Johnson, 1st and Alfred, Charles and Lester Johnson, the only children of his deceased son Dusenbury Johnson, and Harvey Johnson, the only son of his deceased son Asbury Johnson; and Leonard Farnsworth, the only child of his deceased daughter Jane Farnsworth, and Stephen W. Johnson, Agnes Hedges, and Berniece Johnson, the only children of his deceased son Samuel Johnson, his only next of kin, that said deceased was a citizen and was at or immediately previous to his death, an inhabitant of the County of Rockland, and died seized of no real estate...signed David D. Johnson, 11 May 1878. In a supplemental note dated 15 May 1878, David notifies the Court that he left off John Johnson, deceased son with the following living children - Mary, Lauretta & Samuel, with one daughter, Fanny, decd. who has one child, name unknown. (later record shows his name as Frank J. Holden.) Another note shows that Lester Johnson, son of Dusenbury is also deceased and left two sons, Frank & Willie. ; Another note shows that Charles Pitman Johnson, son, deceased was also left off. He has one surviving heir Louie J. Parsons, granddaughter.
Three of the heirs were minors: Louie J. Parsons, Willie & Frank Johnson. Irving Brown was appointed Special Guardian for them per statement of David Johnson, dated 24 April 1880.
