"Daniel Ringo moved from Vigo Co., Indiana ca. 1840 to Greene Co., Ind. He was a carpenter and a farmer. On 9-10-1861 at Terre Haute, Ind. he enlisted as a Private in the Indiana Infantry U.S.Á. (see military record). He died 7-13-1883 in Wright Twp., Greene Co., Indiana. Daniel's children have been assembled from the 1850 and 1870 Census and the marriages of Greene Co., Ind. He was not found in the 1860 Census. A Charles A. Ringo may be one of his sons (not listed with ch'n as no proof) Greene Co., census 1860 - Samuel Bonham age 44 Va., Margaret 42 Va., Wesley Norris 16 Ind., Charles A. Ringo 7 Ind. The 1870 Census (Greene Co., Ind.) - Daniel Ringo 49, Catherine 45, Mary E. 20, David 25, Martha 15, David B. 11, Hanna L. 9. David age 25 has also been omitted from the following list as his identity is not known. His (Daniel's) children seem to be:

"The War Department Record indicates that Daniel S. Ringo, born about 1821, age 40, served in the Union Army with enrollment Sept. 10, 1861 at Terre Haute, Indiana and assignment as Private to Captain Squire's Company, 31st Regiment, Indiana Infantry; April 1862 was sick in hospital at Evansville, Ind., April 30, 1862, on regular duty at war as member of Company S; in pursuit of General Bragg's Division was exposed to rain and cold which affected spine and kidney; reported as sick Dec. 26, 1862 at Nashville, Tenn.
"On January 23, 1862 was on duty as hospital nurse at Nashville, Tenn. On June 23, 1863 was reported as sick at Murfreesboro, Tenn. and was transferred to Invalid Corp. Sept. 26, 1864 was discharged as Private, Company E, 12th Regiment and was assigned to Veterans Corps serving at Watertown, New York.
