Passed away Monday, March 29, 2004 in Portage. He was born on December 30, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the son of Herman and Alice (Adams) Nap, and had been a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. John was a self-employed cement mason, and had also worked at the Upjohn Company for over 15 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a WW II veteran, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1517 of Kalamazoo. On June 26, 1941 he married the former Bette Linderman, who survives. John is also survived by his son, David J. Nap of Augusta; and his daughter, Robyn Tatem of Belleville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grand-children; 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arlo Nap; and a sister, Eleanor Stewart. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Rev. Sandra Elfring officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m.
