She died at her home (RR 4, Taylorville, Illinois). It was told her husband laid by her side in their living room before she passed away. Her demise resulted from a coronary thrombosis (coronary artery disease) at the age of 45 years, 9 months, and 16 days. Her husband informed the authorities of her death. Dr. W.A. Monaghan was the attending physician who pronounced her death.
Grace was laid to rest on 21 May 1945 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, Illinois. The funeral arrangements were handled by Clyde Pearce of Chestnut & Pearce Funeral Home in Taylorville (Sangamon County), Illinois. The service was held at the place of worship Grace was devoted to -- St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville. Reverend Father George Powell officiated the sermon. The pallbearers were Shirley Dowdy, Lester Blake, James Vancil, Ernest Boyles, Edward Day, and Lee Dowdy. Her funeral announcement included her the infamous quote from the King James Bible that can be read in Psalm 23:1. Grace's resting place can be located in Block 24, Lot 65, Section 1; next to her husband.

Her appearance seemed thin and frail, but she had a very powerful dedication to her husband and to her children. She was humble towards others and took top priority to the needs of her children, as well as her devotion to her husband. The family was not financially stable but Grace made sure there was food on the table for her children.
