Bio: She was originally buried in the Bradstreet tomb which was sold to the Hawthorne family in 1789, who, "having taken possession, with no further scruple cleaned out the tomb, throwing the remains of the old Governor and his family into a hole not far away."

Robert S. Rantoul was a Mayor of Salem and President of the Essex Institute. A special committee consisting of members of the Salem City Council, the Essex Institute, health officers, accomplished antiquarians, and local historians, inquired into the location of the Bradstreet graves and the results of the inquiry were reported by Rantoul in an article entitled, "Simon Bradstreet's Grave," published in the The Salem Press Historical and Genealogical Record, Volume 2 (1891-1892), pages 83-94.

Ann was baptized April 12, 1633 at Saint Bride's Church, Fleet Street, London, the daughter of Emanuel Downing, Gent., and his wife, Lucy (Winthrop) Downing.
Originally buried in the Bradstreet tomb, but since 1789 in a nearby, unmarked, and now unknown location within the cemetery "not far away" from the original burial site. Please see memorial biography for details and source.
