Daughter of William and Mary Davis of Boston.
Wife of Richard Ussell. On May 20, 1657, Abigail Davis, petitioned the Assembly, alleging that her mother and step-father, John Cowdall, had forced her into a marriage with Richard Ussell. Later that year, the Assembly declared that her marriage with Richard was unlawful and that she was free to marry Edward Richmond, whom she declared in her petition to be her choice.
She then became the wife of Edward Richmond, the son of John Richmond from Ashton, Keynes, Wiltshire, England. They married in 1658, and were the parents of Sylvester Richmond.

Photo requests for Abigail's headstone are often requested; sadly, it has been lost to the ages.
A new history of the Richmond Cemetery confirms
there is no surviving gravestone for Abigail, only broken markers with no certainty that it is actually her grave. "Two of the unidentified graves are marked only with ledger stones. Capt. Edward Richmond outlived two wives, Abigail Davis and Amy Bull. One might speculate that these are their graves. Three graves have broken markersâgranite head and foot stonesâand no information has been found."
The oldest known gravestone in Little Compton is from 1690; Abigail died in 1682.
