Biography
Lucas Stevense Voorhees was born in 1650 in Hees, Drenthe, Netherlands, his father, Steven Coerte Voorhees, was 51 and his mother, Willemtje Roelof Seubring, was 31. He emigrated to New Amsterdam with his family on 16 April, 1660 on de Bonte Koe "The Spotted Cow".
He married, 1st, Catharina Hanse Van Norstrand, daughter of Hans Jansen Van Norstrand and Jenneken Garrets Van Loon and they had six children together. He then married, 2d, Jannetje Minnes, on 26 Jan 1689. daughter of Minne Johannes Minnelay and Rensje Feddes and they had eight children together. He then married, 3rd, Catherine Van Dyck, in 1703. He died on December 28, 1724, in Kings County, New York, at the age of 74.

He married first, about 1674 at Flatlands, Kings County, New York Catalyntje Van Nostrand Voorhees (Rn=4632), who was born November 1653 at New Amsterdam and was baptized at Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam and died before 28 January 1689 at 36 years of age, a daughter of Hans Van Nostrand (Rn=195) and Jannetje Van Loon Van Nostrand (Rn=33356) and married second, 28 January 1689 at Reformed Dutch Church, Flatbush, Kings County, New York Jannetje Minnelay Voorhees (Rn=6259), who was born 1650, a daughter of Minne Minnelay (Rn=6464) and Rensje ? Feddes Minnelay (Rn=6465).First Residence- Netherland. Second Residence- Flatlands, New Netherland. Emigration- Emigrant in April 1660 from Drenthe, Netherland to New Amsterdam with parents on the De Bonte Koe.[1][2][3][4][5]
