Kurrajong Picnic Races.
On Saturday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) the Kurrajong Picnic Race Club will hold a meeting on the course at North Richmond. In connection with this meeting that gates, booths and refreshment stalls will be sold at auction by Messrs Guest and Skuthorp on Saturday, March 10, at Town's Hotel, North Richmond. It is anticipated that this race meeting will be one of the best held under the auspices of this popular club, and a large entry is confidently expected. The secretary, Mr. A. W. Sly, is an efficient and energetic official, and patrons of the club can rely upon having their comfort and convenience studied by him and his brother officers. The patron of the club is Mr. G. M. Pitt, one of the most worthy and respected residents of the district, and it is in Mr. Pitt's paddock that the course is located. Mr. H. Skuthorp is the club's chairman, and a thorough-going sportsman he is. As judge, Mr. H. Pateson has carried out the arduous duties of his office in a satisfactory manner at past meetings, and the public have entire confidence in him. Mr. John Smith, a genuine "sport" in every respect, will have charge of the horses and boys at the starting post, and if they fail to get away in equal terms it will not be his fault. Of the other officers, all that need be said that is Mr. H. Stavenson (clerk of the scales) and Mr. H. C. Ezzy, (clerk of the course) are the right men in the right place, and invariably carry out their duties to the satisfaction of all. The programme for March 17 comprises 6 events, and attached to the chief handicap is a silver cup given by Mr. George Leggart, of "Gernheim," North Richmond.
