Notities over John Hissey

Stan Hissey searched the records office on 23 May 2006 and obtained the following information from Micro film copy of the Beedon Parish records and transcripts made of the same : John Hissey. Son of William and Mary Hissey. Nov 10 1699.<;/p>

Stan further advised 'there were many Hisseys in the Beedon index prior to 1699'.

On 26 May 2006 Stan advised he searched The Beedon Parish records on 25 May 2006 at The Berkshire Records Office and 'There was nothing before 1671 or after 1746. [The first entry being on 24 Mar 1671 is the Baptism of William to John and Mary; and there is a burial of a John on 27 May 1715]. Hampstead Norreys is the adjoining Parish to Beedon, and the villages are only a couple of miles apart.'

Beedon is less than 4 miles from Hampstead Norreys. Farms on the west side of Hampstead Norreys do use fields from farms in Beedon. Therefore researched IGI Individual Record FamilySearch International Genealogical Index v5.0 Batch C018992 for the period 1538 - 1752 for the surname HYSSIE, HISSEY and variants, for Parish registers of Church of England. Parish Church of Hampstead-Norris and the first mention of the name is for Mary HYSSY's christening on 19 Jul 1724 Hampstead Norris, Berkshire, England. (note : no christenings in the name of HUSSEY.)

In Jan 2006 Rae Williams who has been researching this line for 'The Ezzy Family Newsletter' since July 1986 advised that our Hissey's DO NOT come from Longworth and that 'John Hissey who married Mary Tucker was of Beedon (not Longworth) [from her Memory, Rae believes his birthplace was recorded in the Bishop's Transcripts of their marriage] and christened in 1699 to William (died 1735) and Mary (nee Harris died 1731) who married in 1693' and that William was the son of John (who died 1715) that was married secondly to Anne Field. However, Rae is of the opinion that William was the son of John's first wife and NOT Anne Field.
