Francis Neil Bunker<br>Birth: May 28 1927<br>Death: Dec 3 2010<br>Obituary text: Francis Neil Bunker, Jr. of Lyons died December 3, 2010 at his home. He was 83. Francis was born on May 28, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Francis N. Bunker, Sr. and Evelyn Cox Bunker. He graduated high school in Prescott, Arizona. After school he was drafted into the US Army, where he served at the time reconstruction of Germany. There he also attended the Nuremburg Trials. Francis married Iris Tietjen on May 5, 1950 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They moved to Colorado in 1964. He attended college following the war and he worked as an electronics technician in the computer industry with Hewlett Packard, then IBM, retiring from IBM in 1999 He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Longs Peak Ward, Lyons. Francis’ hobbies were spending time with family and traveling in the west. His favorite vacations were camping road trips with his wife. They traveled on their honeymoon to Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks and San Francisco. They shared their camp with the bears on several occasions. After his retirement from IBM, they returned to camping road trips to Northwest and Canadian National Parks. Francis also liked to build things. He built his own home and then proceeded to remodel it for several decades. The house was finished when he could not swing a hammer anymore. Francis also made model cabins and barns of his own designs, which are, now prized gifts of his sisters, children and grandchildren. Francis was a loving father whom was loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the happiest around his family as exemplified by a huge family gathering to celebrate his 83rd birthday and to honor Francis and Iris’60th wedding anniversary. He will be missed.
