Marriage record says Charles Visbeek married Inez Kiken, in Oct 1899.
1900 census shows Charles and Inez Visbeek, married 4 years, living near Harvey, IL. Doesnt match marriage record from Indiana.
John Stap says they lived in Harvey, IL., and visited them in 1923, and later in 1935.
So, the census seems to be the right people, even though some information doesnt match up.
Janke Kuiken was born Jan 1877, so that matches.
Tjeerd (Charles) Visbeek was born March 1873, but census says March 1874 (one year off)
His immigration is listed as 1891, so that is correct.
It says Inez was born in Indiana, her father was born in Missouri and mother was born in Indiana, so that is totally wrong. Why?
If Inez Kiken is Janke Kuiken, then her parents were from St. Jacobiparochie, Het Bildt, Friesland, Netherlands.
John R (Rentje?) Kiken and Josephine (Dieuwke) were living in Harvey, IL (1910 census), but in 1900 (census) were living in Grant Twp, Newton Co, Indiana, 75 miles south of Harvey, IL. So they were from Indiana. But why does the census say Missouri for fathers birthplace?
Janke immigrated in 1883, when she was only 6 years old. Maybe she doesnt know or remember the family history.
Jankes brother Dirk (Richard) had a daughter in 1898 who he named Ines (from 1900 census), so the family is using this name.
Name:Inez Kuiken
