Weep not for me my friends so dear, I am not dead but sleeping here. Cornelius was the eighth son of Dirk and Nellie Kuipers. All his brothers had left Jewell County in the late 1800's to find work in the brick factories in Leavenworth, Kansas. Cornelius was left to care for his aged father Dirk, who had 14 children. One day while riding his horse and hunting rabbits, Corenelius' revolver jammed. He attempted to remove the jammed cartridge with his teeth.
