DRAKE
(X) John (8), son of John (7) Drake, was the first settler at Simsbury, Connecticut, but resided at Windsor until 1659, perhaps longer. He died July 7, 1688, aged thirty-nine years, according to his gravestone, though the town records give it July 9, 1689. He married, November 30, 1648, Hannah Moore, who died February 16.. 1686, daughter of Deacon John Moore.

John Higley came from England, and was an early settler at Windsor, Conn. Representative, judge of county court. He married November 9, 1671, Hannah Drake.
John Drake, with his wife Elizabeth, came from England in the fleet with Winthrop in 1629. Removed to Windsor, Conn., where he was accidentally killed August 17, 1659. Mrs. Elizabeth Drake died October 7, 1681.
Second Generation, John Drake, born in England, married November 30, 1648, Hannah Moore, born in England, daughter of John Moore, a deacon of the church, gathered in England, who came to Dorchester, Mass., May 30, 1630; removed to Windsor in 1635, and died April 18, 1677. John Drake died 1680. She died February 15, 1686.
Third Generation, Hannah Drake, born August 8, 1653, married November 9, 1671, John Higley.
Second and Fourth Generations, Brewster Higley, born 1681, married Elizabeth Holcomb.
Thomas Holcomb came from England to Dorchester, Mass., in 1633. He removed with Rev. John Warham to Windsor, Conn., in 1635-36, and died September 7, 1657.
Second Generation, Joshna Holcomb, born September 27, 1640, married January 4, 1663, Ruth Sherwood, daughter probably of Thomas Sherwood, from England, in the ship "Francis," with his wife Alice, to Dorchester, Mass., in 1634. Joshua Holcomb removed to Simsbury, Conn., and died December 1, 1690.
Third Generation, Elizabeth Holcomb, born about 1686, married Brewster Higley.
