Ex-Convict Remarries.
The greatness of a woman's forgiveness is told in the story which lies back of the simple announcement that Sumner Hawver and Mrs. Edith Hawver of Chemung were married at Rockford last Thursday, Sept. 12. It was a remarriage. Mrs. Hawver having obtained a divorce from her husband while he was serving a term in the state penitentiary at Joliet for having attacked her with an axe, May 1915. Hawver attacked his wife following his return from a fishing excursion one Sunday morning. He was sentenced to prison at Joliet. Through the intercession of friends he was released in July of this year. His record in prison was one of marked obedience. Following his return home he resumed the position he formerly held in the Borden milk plant at Chemung, living with his (missing) and daughter. Mrs. Haw(missing) made her home at Chemung. The remaining part of the story (missing) be conjectured by the marriage announcement. Mr. Hawver is 61 and Mrs. Hawver is 63 years of age. Belvidere will be their future home.
