Ancestry of Sarah Richmond, who married Caleb Carr5 Sarah Richmond was the mother of Meribah Carr. This line has been traced as follows:
1) John Richmond lived 1594-1664. He came to America from Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire, England. He was one of the purchasers of Taunton in 1637. Name of his wife is not known. He had four children: Job, Edward, Sarah, and Mary.
2) Edward Richmond (Capt.) lived 1632-1696; married 1655 Abigail Davis. Abigail may have been the daughter of William and Mary (Makepiece) Davis, he being a locksmith.; m. 2) Amy Bull. The Richmond homestead with burial ground is at Little Compton, Rhode Island. Captain Edward is buried there. Abigail was the mother of his son, Edward.
3) Edward Richmond, Jr. was born 1658. He married , in 1682, Sarah, who was born 1664. He died 1743. They had ten children.
4) Edward Richmond, III lived 1689-1734. He married 1711 Rebecca Thurston (1689-1735). She was the daughter of Jonathan (1659-1740) and Sarah Thurston, the granddaughter of Edward. They had four children.
5) Sarah Richmond, who lived 1711-1798, married Caleb Carr. She is buried in a small cemetery in Hancock, Mass. The headstone has the following inscription (copied by Hugh McLellan of Champlain, New York). In Memory/ of Sarah Carr wife of Caleb Carr. who/ departed this life/ Nov the 25th 1798/ in the 87th year/ of her age.
