[NEHGR 120:21-25] James Watson of Home-upon-Spalding Moor was botn about 1530. His wife is unidentified and since she is not named in hiw will probably predeceased him. Will is dated 10 July 1615 and probated last of May 1616. Perhaps 11 children.

James Watson of Holme-upon-Spalding Moor was born about 1530. His wife is unidentified, and, since she is not named in his will was probably then deceased.

His will, dated 10 July 1615 and probated "last of May 1616" (P. and E. York Wills, vol. 34, fol. 95), states that he was "to be buried in the churchyard." He left legacies:

"to Isabel Brigham, wife of Thomas, £3 which he owes me and 20s more, in full satisfaction of her child's portion," "to Christopher Watson my son 40s in full satisfaction of his child's portion." "To Katharine Patchet, wife of Robert Patchet £4 he owes me in full satisfaction of child's portion,""to Constance wife of John Brigham £8 he owes me in full satisfaction of child's portion," "to George Barker, 5s, to Robert Barker 5s, to George Gathorne 5s, to Jennet Gathorne 5s, to Elizabeth Gathorne 5s, to Marie Gathorne 6s 8d, to Henry Yonge son of Phillip Yonge 6s 8d, to Margaret Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Marie Mitchell each 6s 8d, to Thomas Ellithorpe, Christopher Ellithorpe, and Francis Ellithorpe each 5s, to James Watson son of Christopher 20s, to Jennet Watson daughter of William Watson 20s." Legacies are to be paid two years after his death. Residue to son William, executor. Witnesses were: Peter Tipping, Anthony Rumley, Robert Millington, each to get 12d.
