Kerry Kay Chipman
1954 - 2019
Early Life: Kerry was born December 28, 1954, in Provo, Utah, to Delbert "Ray" and June Mower Chipman. He graduated from American Fork High School.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: Following high school graduation, Kerry served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milano, Italy. His service sparked the beginning of a lifelong love of the Italian people and culture. He graduated from Brigham Young University and married Tamera Bussio in the Salt Lake Temple in 1983. Kerry’s 31-year career in the car wash industry began in 1988 when he purchased a Super Wash in Orem, Utah. He talked with and enjoyed getting to know his customers. He held a special place in his heart for those with a culturally diverse background. Many lifelong friendships were formed at the car wash. Kerry owned and operated four car washes between Provo and Taylorsville. Kerry loved to travel with his family and especially enjoyed going for a “burn” (road trip). His favorite destinations included Lake Powell, the Uinta Mountains, southern California and Italy. He claimed Tamera’s relatives from Italy as his own and talked to them almost daily. He always wished to be there with them. Kerry was gifted with language and could speak multiple languages fluently. He made friends wherever he went and he kept in touch with people from all over the world. Kerry’s loud, boisterous and unique personality was infectious and made him the center of attention. He made people feel comfortable in an instant, and he loved with his whole heart. He knew no stranger. He had an incredible sense of humor and was larger than life. Those that knew Kerry loved him, and those that met him instantly felt of his love and fun personality. In March 2018, his brain cancer diagnosis manifested this love as many people reached out and shared concern. It was during the last year of his life that he needed Tamera with him always. He honored her and cared deeply for her, especially during his last year. His legacy of love for people and humor live on. Kerry Kay Chipman, of Orem, Utah, died in his home on February 21, 2019, after a courageous 11-month battle with brain cancer. He was 64.
